I am where I am… he is where he is and where he is, is okay.

September 8th, 2006

One of the big things that Abe is talking about right now is the phrase “I am where I am and where I am is alright”. I have played with that thought a lot and find that it gives me relief when I am being hard on myself over downward spirals of emotion. It helps me not beat up on myself and slowly work my way back up to where I prefer to be.

I have adopted this thought when dealing with my family. If I find that I am getting aggrevated about behavior that is being exhibited, I take a deep breath and say “I am where I am” and then turn it to the person who is aggrevating me “he is where he is and where he is, is okay”. It is really amazing how that diffuses the situation for me. It gives me the okay to let the aggrevation go and let them do what they have to do in order to get through the situation. I don’t have to control them or the sitation to feel better… ahh what a light bulb moment  While I try to incorporate what Abe is saying into my daily life, sometimes the “getting it” take a bit of time. Sometimes it takes these ahh moments to realize that, even though you listen and soak it up like a sponge, sometimes, you have to see yourself putting it into action to realize that you really DO get it.
