I have a 4.5 year old who is in 1/2 day preschool. He really would rather be home with either mom or dad during the day instead (this is a possible scenerio most days).
He has come to realize that the only time he can stay home is if he is sick. Not a runny nose, little cold, type of sick, but rather the ones where the coughs keep him up all night and mom starts thinking that a doctor’s visit may be in order.
I REALLY believe that he is attracting the illness to him in order to stay at home.
Is there anything that I can do to help him deal with preschool a little. He needs the socialization so he will be ready for kindergarten next year and in all honesty, we don’t get much work done (next to none) when he is around all the time. (We are self employed).
How can I help make this a mutually good feeling co creation?

There are some great suggestions on my post
And hopefully things will move along nicely as soon as the current illness is under control

Thank you so much for your wonderful suggestions
I will have to try and find somehthing that will work as an incentive for him Mary K. He is one tough amazing creating kid LOL
Point well taken Sondra. I think, at this time, it is just because he would rather be at home. He has a speech thing that he is very conscious of and doesn’t like talking in front of people. He does come home from school all excited to tell us about what he has done so they are keeping him engaged and interested. When he goes to Kindergarten, I know his school will find ways to make it exciting for him. We are sooo lucky to be going to an absolutely amazing school
Well, time to go deal with my amazing kid.
He managed to work it that he was out of school this whole week with the illness he attracted
Just a quick little funny - on Monday morning 4:30 he woke up seriously cough and while he was laying on the landing waiting for me to get my robe on, I hear him say, between coughs, “I don’t have to go to school today?”. I stifled a little laugh because I was sooo impressed by his ability to create a situation that would get him exactly what he wanted!
