It’s funny so how time seems to be filled with all sorts of things that stop me from doing what I know I need to do in order to meet my goal. Everything seems more important than doing what will help me get over my hurdles.
I’m a fan of Jordan Savage so this video hit the spot
I have made a couple of moves forward in the past day.
A local business/networking company has meetups and based on the recommendation of an wonderful past employee, I have signed up to go to the meeting in August. It is supposed to be for women in business in our area and is supposed to be lower pressure than some of the networking events that I have heard about. I really don’t like the pushy, “let me tell you about what I do for a living and why you would be a great fit” type of networking. Unfortunately there seems to be quite a bit of that around here. I need to LOA my way into a mild mannered business group LOL
I actually, finally, got some business cards done too. If I am going to be out and about, I need to make sure I get remembered. LOL I read a really cool article on Christine Kane’s blog that really made some fabulous points – The Reluctant Networker’s Guide to Business Cards LOL I am about as reluctant as you can get so it really spoke to me. The organization that she mentions, eWomenNetwork looks like something interesting to investigate.
We also got the Continuing Education class brochure for the local college in the mail today. I am going to spend a little time looking through that tomorrow so see if there is anything that interests me. I am also waiting on the local communities to put out there fall brochures for the arts and leisure activities.
I am definitely on the right path. One step at a time.
My public interaction today was talking to a nice woman at the vet’s office. I held my own in that conversation. Since my decision to do this challenge, I have found myself acutely aware of how I choose to interact when I am out and about. I am *trying* to make more eye contact and be more friendly.
