A member of the Meetup group posed some fabulous questions that have really made me think in order to articulate my thoughts on the matter.
I would love to hear what YOU think the definition of manifesting is. I am going to post the link to this blog on my reply to her so she can see what others think. She’s definitely on her way to great things because she SO wants to understand and be able to point downstream to what she desires.
The blocks in yellow are her comments.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

It would be hard to ask the questions in this form, because to clearly convey where I’m at, what I know already, etc would be hard. I think someone could respond at length about something I already know! In real time, that could be curtailed. So, the answer appears to be then, that this is something I must self-teach, and that is fine. I hoped that joining meetings about this would help me in this way, but so far, that doesn’t look like that’s how it’ll go for now. Things are revealed to us in their perfect time, so that’s ok.
Well, kinda sorta. Everyone has their own personal beliefs on how this all works. And that is great because there are many many ways to get to the same place. In reading up / studying on the things that others have / are studying, it makes it easier to ask VERY specific questions about what you are having a hard time understanding. For me, Abraham is my teacher of choice. Am I a expert / scholar on what they teach? Absolutely not. My understanding of what they say could be drastically different from the next person but my view could be the one that makes the light bulb go on for someone. It really depends on how you best learn. Some need the research material and some don’t. Some people just get it through trial and error. I was one who need the materials first and then did the trial and error and STILL have the learning materials
I’ll try one question:
I’m not sure what is considered “manifesting”. I may already be doing this and not identifying it. I thought of it one way, but sometimes I hear of it coming across as another way. I thought of it as causing something that you want to happen, happen. That you would say specific words (with careful word choices), for example “I will manifest $5000 by October, 31, 2007″ is that something you ask for, then wait and it comes to you? or is that something you ask for because you have a good idea that can happen, and then when it does, you call it manifesting?
Good question. In my opinion, it is all manifesting. You identify what you want, focus on it, and have it appear. The two examples that you gave just seem to have differing levels of dramatic intensity associated to them.
It is getting what you think about. It works for both positive and negative things in your life. Even the mundane things that you have happen in your life are manifestations of thoughts. The wording is important, but even more important is the feeling behind the desire. Ultimately, you have to believe that it CAN happen or it won’t happen. In the example of $5000 by October, if you can give up the who, what, why, when, where, & how of the manifestations and just have it as a given that it will happen, it will. BUT how many people do that on a regular basis? Not many. They get hung up in the details of it and noticing that it isn’t here yet and end up slowing down the process.
If someone asked for that ($5000), but knew, for example, there were at least a few ways that could happen, then I don’t think they “manifested” it – I think it would have happened anyway, but now they call it manifesting and get some thrill from that.
Hmmm, well I think all things are possible with the Law of Attraction if you focus in the correct way. I know that I could manifest $5000 if I wanted to and I do know that there are many many ways that it could come to me. If it is something I don’t currently have and I put my mind to it and it appears, then, to me that is manifesting even though for me, I know it will come. It’s all about getting focused in a positive way with excitement and being able to stop the negative self talk that happens when you reach beyond your comfort zone what what you want to manifest in your life.
I’ve heard some say they got this car or house or whatever, but if they are house hunting or have it in their mind to buy a car, it’s going to happen anyway, they didn’t manifest it, they decided they wanted something and they went and got it.
See, what is missing from this is the details surrounding it. You focus on what you want and circumstances line up to help it manifest. It is a matter of knowing exactly what you want and thinking about it and loving it even though it isn’t there yet. Waiting in anticipation for it to appear. I believe that I manifested my house. Was I looking for a house? Absolutely. I put to paper exactly what I was looking for and revisited many times over a year’s time period. My husband and I spent many months visiting houses that were up for sale before it was time to buy. The house that we ultimately bought had just recently had a huge drop in price that put it right in the dollar range that we were willing to pay. Looking back over the list http://www.contemplatethis.com/archives/61 there is a huge amount on my list that did turn out exactly as I intended.
*Laugh* My husband asked what I was doing and I told him. He agrees with your take on this.
I believe in the magic of it all and the excitement of it all. The excitement of it all gives what I want more power to come into being. I think I will keep on my “life is amazing and I am directing it” point of view. Life is SO much more fun to me that way.
To me it seems like people will set goals, and they go after their goals – that’s just what you do. If I want a house, I’m going to find a way to get it – that’s being resourceful, determined, tenacious, persevering, etc – that’s not manifesting, yet I hear those kinds of stories being called manifesting.
But, you can have it be a difficult journey to the house with a lot of work and persevering or you can make plans and be open to the things that universe is shooting your way. The synchronicity of things that happen around you that will make the manifestation of what you want so much more easy, fun, and quick to appear. If you think it is going to take a lot of work to get what you want, it will take a lot of work. If you think that things will just sort of work out, and you will get what you desire, you will be inspired to decisions that will make the manifestation quicker and easier.
So as I said in the beginning, maybe I’m already manifesting and didn’t realize it, if this is the correct meaning of the word. Is manifesting just another label for getting something through perseverance? I thought it was something different, from how I understood it from The Secret. i thought it was like a catalog of things that the universe has – everything already exists, it’s all there, and all I have to do is believe that (which I do, I understand the “everything is energy” and universal energy and all things exist, etc) and if I believe that, then I name what I want and presto – it is manifested. But no, I have to put a time to it.
You have to put the desire out there and really put the details into the desire and get excited about it and know that it is going to come. Impatience and doubt will thwart the manifestation very quickly. I never put a time frame on things because it has a tendency to put pressure on you. Pressure to have something manifest is always counter productive in my opinion. If you can put a time limit on it and stay up to speed with the positive excited vibration that should surround it, it could work. It really has a lot to do with belief, faith that it will happen.
The time, I think, is part of the goal a person set to accomplish what they want to accomplish. People set goals and do them. I will keep my car another year, and then I’ll look for a new one, because this car is getting high in mileage, and in another year, it’ll be time to get a new one. So I set that goal, and that time, for that reason. So when that happens, do I get to say I manifested something and it happened!!! Like some magical thing happened, when I made it happen.
But was it the exact car you wanted in that perfect color with all the bells and whistles at the exact amount you were willing to pay with surprise rebates?
It is the details surrounding the goal you have that make manifesting so much fun in my opinion.
The topic of manifesting and attracting is all being made way to complicated. Life is supposed to be fun. If it isn’t, then you need to re-evaluate how you are thinking. Life IS good and it isn’t supposed to be such a struggle. I, for one, am so glad that I have given up the need to prove my worth to anyone. I am worthy
and everything that I could possibly desire, now and in the future, is mine for the having should I decide I want it and am able to focus on in a down stream manner.

Two years ago, today, disaster struck my family. My husband and I were out for an early anniversary dinner and returned home to find our house on fire. The storms that raged through spawned some horrible lightning. The home that I had spent a year creating vibrationally, and had just moved into two months earlier, had been struck and was on fire!
I’ve come to understand that vibrational escrow holds, not only the things you the things that you want, but also the things that you focus on with intensity. It took me a long time to come to terms with that lightning strike. There was no possible way that I could have created that situation, no way, no how. Right???
After much contemplation and studying law of attraction, I can pretty much say that I played a huge part in that lightning strike. I built the momentum for the strike based on my fear of storms that I had built up over the years. Months before the strike, I had actually come to terms with storms and came to the understanding that my family would be safe no matter what. I knew that this was the truth and had no doubt surrounding that. I KNEW we would be not be in a place where the weather would harm us. Unfortunately, the momentum for the strike had already been piled up in vibrational escrow. It was a mighty blast of post manifestational awareness.
As time has passed, I can look back and appreciate all the amazing things that came out my vibrational escrow during that time of great change and upheaval.
My Appreciation Right After The Fire:
- We were all safe just as I had intended. No one was in the house (except for my poor cat) at the time of the strike.
- We arrived about 5 to 7 minutes after the strike so the fire wasn’t fully raging at that time.
- I appreciate the fact that it was raining cats and dogs that night. Had it not been, we would have stopped for ice cream and would not have arrived back at the house until much later and had been met with a fire that was MUCH worse.
- The kids weren’t with us at the time and our angel of a sitter kept them safe and sound while we dealt with the fire fighters and the extinguishing of the fire.
- Nothing of sentimental value was damaged beyond use. While it was sad going into the smoked, charred house, the fact that I could get the things that were important to my kids made me feel a small bit better.
- I appreciate the fact that, even though they were in the attic where the fire was, all the emails, that my husband had saved from during our courtship (over 6 binders worth), were untouched by the flames.
- All the products, which we sold through our home based business, were sellable. Amazingly enough, nothing had smoke damage.
- I appreciate our wonderful neighbors who offered their home to the newcomers in the neighborhood until we could find a place to stay.
- I appreciate the fact that while all our network cards were fried by the lightning, the memory and all other vital parts of the computers were in working order. Definitely important for an internet based business!
My Appeciation After Time Had Passed:
So many things that I had wanted and had contemplated over time have come to fruition due to that fateful day. I am really in awe of how law of attraction really comes into play at all times.
Right after we moved in, I became disenchanted with certain areas of the house due to, what I considered, substandard work. The guy who owned the house before us was a jack of all trades and a master of none. The master bath got the most of my scorn. I was talking recently to a friend who remembers me fussing endlessly about how much I dislike things in there. Well, LOA heard and sorted that out for me. The two rooms that got a total make over were the master bedroom and the master bath. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful now. We got to make it exactly what we wanted during the rebuild. Had the fire not happened, we probably would still be fussing over how things didn’t work like they should.
My husband and I had talked many, many times about eventually moving our business out of the home but for many different reasons (excuses) we never did make the move. The fire left us no other choice. It was amazing how things worked out. Our first full time employee was absolutely a god send. She had JUST moved into the area right before the fire and was looking for work. Had the fire not happened, we would never have crossed paths. She came in and helped us get organized and helped give me peace of mind in a very unsettled time in my life. She made it so I didn’t have to really worry about the “hows” of keeping the business up and running while we tried to get our life back on track. Over time, I have come to really appreciate the people who have come to help us with our business. I have been really blessed with the people who work for us. I don’t think we would have ever made the jump from home to leased space if it weren’t for the fire. Two years after the fact, I am now spending more time at home with my family and quite a bit less time at work, which is probably one of the biggest things I appreciate about that fire.
I have come to realize that no matter how bad things look in the moment, that in the end, it will all work out. I think the strike has made me realize how powerful my thoughts truly are. It has made me acutely aware of what I am thinking and what I am wishing for. I am absolutely appreciative of how law of attraction works and have made some major strides in making it work for me and my life. Life really is good

We all pride ourselves on our ability to focus and learn, but unfortunately, that ability to focus can create a situation where you are not allowing those things in your vibrational escrow to manifest. The contrary may be the case if you have become such an expert on those things that you don’t want in your life.
Click arrow, on left, to listen to quote. From that broader, non-physical vantage point, however, you really intended to be an offer-er of a clearer, purer, signal of intent. You knew that what ever it is that you are offering vibrationally, law of attraction is going to respond to, so you knew that expansion would be your experience and you knew that since contrast would help you come to new conclusions about what you want. You knew that if you could focus upon what you want, that what you want would be your dominant vibration, that law of attraction would respond to it and you knew that you would have a powerful leading edge experience.
But when you got here, into your physical environment, and you began sifting through the contrast, we see many of you stuck in the “I know what I don’t want” part of it. When ever you know what you don’t want, you always know more clearly what you do want. And if you could turn more often toward what you do want and speak primarily of that, your lives would move so splendidly.
But, somehow or other, over time, you get oriented to knowing what you don’t want and then wanting to talk to others about that and explaining how much you really don’t want that. Now the whole time you’re explaining why you really don’t want that, a rocket of desire about what you really do want is going out and source’s energy is riding that rocket and the larger part of you is going thatta way towards what you really want. But humans, bless your heart, know so clearly what you don’t want and for some reason it is so compelling, it is almost as if you feel that you need to justify what you do want by REALLY explaining how awful what you don’t want is. So you become REALLY expert at describing what you don’t want. You join those online chat groups. You subscribe to those complaining newsletters. You watch those particular television programs that really zero in on what you do not want and articulate it to perfection. You have become experts about what you don’t want, which means the larger part of you has become expert about what you do want but until the physical part of you gets oriented in the direction of what you do want, you’re setting up a sort of tug of war inside yourself that is unpleasant.
So, how much of an expert are you? How are you feeling and what is manifesting around you at this time? If you are seeing more of what you don’t want than what you do want, perhaps it is time to become more of an expert on what it is you do want instead.
Abraham says that we have all become too much of “realists” who feel the need to “tell it like it is” and tell the “truth” about situations. When considering the Law of Attraction, what would the outcome of doing that be? Manifestation of more of what is instead of what you are desiring. Maybe it is time to be classified as a dreamer, instead, and tell people of your “outlandish” dreams.
Who cares what they think?! You know that, if given the proper focus, those outlandish dreams will become reality, in time.
This is a wonderful segment of one of the workshops. It runs about 9 1/2 minutes.
