Cultivating Happiness

Saturday 16 February 2008 @ 7:07 pm

Through this last year, I have learned so much about who I am and what I want in life. I have been journeying forward towards my ideal place. I have come to realize that what I have been reaching for is happiness. I just want to be happy without requiring anything from anyone else.

Your Greatest Gift to Give Is Your Happiness

The greatest gift that you could ever give to another is your own happiness, for when you are in a state of joy, happiness, or appreciation, you are fully connected to the Stream of pure, positive Source Energy that is truly who you are. And when you are in that state of connection, anything or anyone that you are holding as your object of attention benefits from your attention.

Chapter 17 - Ask and It is Given

I used to spend quite a bit of time trying to manipulate others into acting in ways that I thought would bring me happiness. My desire may have caused a change in behavior, but that didn’t bring me long term happiness. That conditional happiness thing really is a no win situation.

Your Happiness Does Not Depend on What Others Do

Your happiness does not depend on what others do, but only upon your own vibrational balance. And the happiness of others does not depend on you, but only on their own vibrational balance, for the way anyone feels, in any moment, is only about their own mix of Energies. The way you feel is simply, clearly, and always the indicator of the vibrational balance between your desires and your vibrational offering, which, from your vantage point, you have launched.

Chapter 17 - Ask and It is Given

Through the use of many different tools, I have come to find that there are several ways to work through the issues that creep up from time to time that I allow to sabotage my happiness level. In addition to Abraham, I have found that Byron Katie has opened my perspective of my life quite a bit. The Work dovetails nicely with the teachings of Abraham.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) has been one of the most valuable tools I have discovered. I use it on everything and find that it continues to shift my thinking and feelings about whatever topic is causing me stress.

Using EFT to Cultivate Happiness

Below you will find several articles from Gary Craig’s website that help you tap towards happiness. You may find that, even though it isn’t your exact situation, you can pull some very valuable tips out of it.

From Depressed And Suicidal … To … “I Laugh All The Time”

Everyday EFT to Create a Fabulous Life: The Emotional Joy Technique

You don’t need to be an expert to gain the benefits of EFT.

Gary Craig offers a free downloadable manual that gives you everything that you need in order to make a HUGE difference in your life if you just give it a chance!

If you want would like to actually watch examples of how EFT is done, emofree.com also offers DVDs that you can purchase that are extremely worth the cost. (I own the full set.) As an added bonus, you are allowed to copy the DVDs up to 100 times to share them (not sell) with friends and family.

It Is What It Is

I have been listening to a lot of Byron Katie (Katie to those who know her) as of late, due no Abraham CDs coming for some reason. (I will have to call and check up on that soon.)

The most recent one I have been listening to is Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life . I think this may have actually saved my sons from quite a bit of berating and yelling and screaming. PostSmile!

Around 1pm yesterday, I got a really angry phone call from my husband calling me home from work. It was an early release day from school and the boys, 5 1/2 and 7 1/2, apparently decided it was a good idea to play in the upstairs bathroom sink and flood the place out. I did the work on the issue as I drove.

“The boys shouldn’t have been playing in the water in the sink. They should have known better.”

Is that true? Can you know that it is absolutely true?

Well no, I guess not, but dang, I wish it was.

The reality of it is that they did and “It is What It Is”. That is the reality of the situation. My thoughts about it all can torment me or not. In this moment right now, I can think about it in a way that didn’t cause me stress. I prefer it that way.

In my wildest dreams, I could not have envisioned the scene of what was to meet me at home.

The bathroom, that the boys were in, was upstairs. The water had soaked through the floor and was dripping from the ceiling in the living room. There was water pouring out of every light fixture and the paint was bubbling up like small balloons on the ceiling. Holy crap! The water had traveled all the way across the living room and was pouring out of a seam and onto our large screen TV and our Wii. The total dollar amount of damage done is still to be determined. Wow.

I was oddly calm about all of this. We had a water damage company on site within the hour and had filed a claim with the insurance agency. We now have heavy duty heaters and fans running in the upstairs bathroom and in the living room. It is very much like being on a plane seated on a wing aisle. I thought we would have had problems sleeping, as the fans are under and right next to our bedroom, but it turns out that the fans work wonderfully as white noise generators.

I did have a little chuckle about all of this as I was out driving to take my dog her things at the kennel. We are currently in the process of having our kitchen redone. We have had to move everyone into the office / spare kitchen area. The very SMALL space. I have come to realize how large my personal space bubble really is! I had been complaining about how cramped we are and how I wanted the kitchen to be done (it will be absolutely gorgeous when it is done!). I have been griping about not enough space, on a very regular basis. Doesn’t surprise me, in hindsight, that something happened that makes even less space!!
